Patient Care System

.
In the ward, 2 to 5 intern doctors posted according to the postgraduate medical internship system, and faculty staff or senior medical staff form pairs as attending physicians to provide medical care for the hospitalized patients. With specialists as the core and working with excellent laboratory technicians, we perform major tests including treadmill test, echocardiography (heart ECHO), nuclear heart scanning, and heart catheterization (cath) study using state-of-the-art machines with high precision. Always keeping abreast with the latest development in cardiovascular medicine, we are also incorporating cutting-edge therapies.

Kyushu University Hospital has been designated “special functioning hospital”, and since the opening of the Emergency and Critical Care Center in August 2006, patients are being admitted on a 24-hour basis. As a result, many difficult cases in which treatment strategy cannot be decided have come to us from all parts of the country. Our attending physician team holds conferences and discussions with professors and faculty members, striving to respond rapidly and cautiously to the treatment need of each patient. Furthermore, many patients are complicated with non-cardiovascular disorders such as diabetes, hyperglycemia and kidney disease. For these patients, we collaborate with other specialties aiming at more comprehensive and higher quality medical care. In cooperation with the physicians, our nursing staff and other ward staff together provide meticulous care for our inpatients and outpatients.

As a role of university hospital, medical students participate in medical care as a part of their curriculum. Under the professors, faculty staff and senior medical staff are responsible for their training. While we are constantly reviewing and innovating in order to respond to the reforms of medical and university hospital systems, our baseline is to provide better medical care and to train competent cardiovascular specialists. To fulfill these missions, we all keep our goals high and work cheerfully, happily and energetically even under challenging conditions.
