Kyushu University completed a ‘Stricter Selection of Focus’ for all graduate schools in April 2000 and, at the same time, we have introduced a graduate school and research institution system. The purpose is to separate the system into both an “educational school” and a “research institution”, where individual staff can belong to appropriate teaching and research divisions, allowing for more flexible cooperation between staff.
As a result, we have created: an undergraduate “school” for education which performs both education and research duties, a graduate “school” which performs graduate education, and a “faculty” which performs research duties.
