With the advances in diagnostic imaging technology, CT and MRI are also providing useful information even in the cardiovascular field. In our hospital, we have installed the latest 64-row multislice CT, which allows accurate assessment of the coronary arteries in a noninvasive manner. This tool is useful as an alternative to coronary angiography or as a means to acquire additional information. Another application of this method is to screen persons suspected of having ischemic heart disease or persons with risk factors of arteriosclerosis by doing a coronary CT scan at the outpatient clinic. ▲MRI The advantage of this method is that no radiation is used. While MRI is used mainly for the diagnosis of myocardiopathy, it has also become considerably useful in the evaluation of coronary artery. |
