Greeting from the newly-appointed professor-Noriko Isobe Department of Neurology

I would like to announce that I took office as the fifth Professor at the Department of Neurology, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University on 01 April 2021.
I graduated from Kyushu University School of Medicine in 2003. Following my clinical training, I started research on intractable neuroimmunological diseases under the supervision of Professor Dr. Jun-ichi Kira and obtained my PhD in 2010. I subsequently moved to the University of California, San Francisco as a postdoctoral fellow to pursue genetic and bioinformatics research with Professor Dr. Jorge R. Oksenberg. Since returning to Kyushu University in 2017 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurological Therapeutics, I have dedicated myself to delivering patient care, conducting research, and providing education.
Our Department of Neurology is the oldest in Japan, being established in 1963. The mission of our Department is to make breakthroughs that can improve the lives of patients with intractable neurological diseases and to train leading neurologists and researchers who can actively contribute to the development of medical science.
Thank you so much for your guidance and support.

Sincerely yours,
Noriko Isobe, MD, PhD
