On April 1st, 2023, I was appointed to the professorship of the department of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine at the Kyushu University Graduate School of Medical Sciences.

The department has emerged as a basic research lab from the clinical laboratory established at Kyushu University Hospital in 1957. Therefore, we have advantages in obtaining clinical samples and data, which will allow us to apply our research achievements directly to clinical tests. New technologies such as genomics, proteomics, AI, are rapidly being introduced to clinical testing and we have to catch up with this progress to manage their accuracy and quality.

I will support the development of the lab by fostering inter-departments-partnerships that facilitate both clinical and basic research and contribute to further growth of Kyushu University.
