Distinguished Professor Kinichi Nakashima, Department of Basic Stem Cell Biology
Professor Kinichi Nakashima from the department of basic stem cell biology has been appointed to the role of Distinguished Professor at Kyushu University.
The Distinguished Professor system is a distinctive Kyushu University initiative designed to support and invigorate advanced research activities that originate from free and open inquiry. This title is bestowed upon professors who have made exemplary contributions to their respective fields and who are instrumental in shaping the university's research strategy.
Since the establishment of this system in April 2009, the following professors from Kyushu University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences have been awarded the title of Distinguished Professor: Professor Takahiro Maeda, Professor Yoshihiro Ogawa, and Professor Takeshi Imai (current positions, in order of their conferment).
- Research Area: Brain/Mind 2.0, Theme 3: Elucidation of pathological mechanisms of neurological and psychiatric disorders
- Project: Elucidation of the universal mechanism of neurological disease pathogenesis by endogenous DNA ligands and cellular senescence and its application to the development of therapeutic strategies
