I am Yasunari Sakai, M.D., Ph.D. As the newly appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, I would like to briefly introduce myself and our department.

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyushu University in 1995. After studying the biochemistry of DNA repair system in graduate school, I have been engaged in the treatment and research of severe neurological diseases in children.

As pediatricians, we hold a simple aspiration: to bring happiness to every child and joy to their families. Toward this goal, we strive to move forward beyond subspecialty boundaries, confronting diseases that hinder growth and development. These efforts will lead us to clarify still-unknown mechanisms and ultimately to overcome them.

By harnessing our interactive teamwork at Kyushu University, we aim to deliver even higher-quality medical care. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and encouragement.
