Prof. Masutaka Furue and his colleagues developed a sophisticated examination technique for diagnosis of malignant melanoma. He injects radioactive fucshin sulfate into a lesion, and detected the accumulation of the agent in sentinel lymph nodes using a gamma probe. After that he injects patent-blue to visualize the sentinel lymph nodes in the biopsy. By these techniques, he can easily detect the sentinel lymph nodes for ordinal histological and genomic diagnosis.
