Dermatology clinic has rare 120 dolls in possession. These dolls are made about a hundred years ago with wax. The proper name is moulage. Mr. Shouhu Niijima (1890 born) made 700 moulages imaging various skin diseases. He was a very famous painter lived in Fukuoka city. It is not clear how he was involved in making these valuable moulages. In any way, the moulages were made highly realistic. Then observers feel that a real patient is present just in front of them. Prof.Masutaka Furue says that these moulages are a very useful tool for teaching medical students even now and that it is suitable to keep them in hospital rather than in museum.
