Patient in Silico

The president of Kyushu University, Senri Kajiyama, has been promoting interdisciplinary research activities between medicine and engineering. Kyushu University has founded the Digital Medicine Initiative that aims at developing high performance multi-scale, multi-physics computational human models. The computational models translate molecular mechanisms into complex system function and facilitate the development of new modalities of diagnosis and treatment. Those modalities include computational diagnosis, optimization of treatment, prediction of side effects, and development of sophisticated tailed medicine. The project has been led by Prof. Kenji Sunagawa
