Makeyev教授は、RNA研究の最前線で活躍されています。最近発表された、非コードRNAや選択的RNAスプライシングを介したDNA修飾制御のお話を拝聴する絶好の機会です。

要旨：
Eukaryotic gene expression is extensively regulated at the RNA level.
We investigate the biological functions of alternative splicing and noncoding RNAs in normal brain development and in the context of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
The approaches we use range from RNA biology, "omics" techniques, and bioinformatics to stem cell biology,
developmental biology, and mammalian genetics.
I will briefly discuss our earlier work on the interplay between the microRNA and alternative splicing pathways in developing neurons.
I will then move on to our recently published and unpublished studies, which argue that alternative splicing plays a substantially more important role in the regulation of messenger RNA abundance than previously thought.
